This is a plan to prepare for the Cat.3 Mountain Biker for the Sea Otter Classic Cross Country race. The Sea Otter XC race features a very challenging 18 mile course. It combines all the components of a great ride—lots of singletrack, doubletrack/fire and paved roads, and close to 2700 feet of total climbing. This program is designed to help you peak for the unique demands of this course.
The training program begins on January 1st and concludes on race day, April 13th. Weekly hours range from 7 to 9 hours with workouts during the week being no longer than 90 minutes. Even though there are some road ride workouts in the program, you can do the program exclusively on a mountain bike.
Included with this training program is coach support and local knowledge on the course, trails, and race day logistics.
